2nd Annual University of Michigan-Dearborn Coaches Clinic of America October 3-4, 2008
Why attend?
The purpose of the Coaches Clinic is to introduce the new events for the 2009 Science Olympiad and to help coaches develop a better understanding of all the events along with strategies for their classroom implementation. National Event Supervisors or exemplars in the field will conduct the clinic workshops.
Where
On the Campus of the University of Michigan Dearborn
Checkin for the clinic will be at the University Center in the hallway outside of Kochoff Hall. The University Center is labelled UC on the campus map
Maps and Directions can be found on the University Site. If you are coming from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) you will be coming "From the west".
Why come to Dearborn?
Most importantly, our clinic will be conducted by the National Event Supervisors. We have already received commitments from many of the national event supervisors to attend this event. The City of Dearborn has a rich heritage and is a world famous industrial center. At the same time, it is one of America's leading tourist attractions, a college town, and is a residential community that wins accolades for cleanliness and public services. The University of Michigan Dearborn campus and Hyatt Regency Dearborn are located across the street from each other and are situated 10 miles east of Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW).
Registration
Registration includes Friday evening dinner and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. All participants will receive a commemorative tee-shirt along with many resources suitable for preparing students for Science Olympiad tournament competition including the 2009 Science Olympiad Manual and Rules. Participants will also receive a CD with information for the events.
Local Attractions
The Henry Ford which includes the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, the IMAX Theatre, Ford Rouge Factory Tour, and the Benson Ford Research Center
The UM-Dearborn campus sits on the historic Henry Ford Estate. Tours of the campus and estate are available.
Attendees can reserve a room at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn for the low rate of $99.00 per room per night. This includes free wireless internet. The hotel and campus are located 10 miles east of Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). Free parking on campus and at the hotel.
Attendees can call the hotel at +1 (313) 593-1234 to book a room. Please indicate that you are with the "Science Olympiad" group to receive the discounted rate. Online booking is not yet available. We will post the online booking information as soon as it becomes available.
Please Note: Please book your rooms early as we have very limited space at the hotel. We were unable to accommodate all of our guests due to the extraordinary turnout we had last year.
Space is Limited
Space will be limited to seven hundred participants. Selection will be on a first-come/first-served basis and participants may attend the workshop sessions of their choice. Registration will close when 700 applications have been received or on Friday, September 5, 2008 whichever comes first. No applications will be accepted after that date. All registrants will receive a confirmation number via email.

Please Note: The Coaches Clinic is only for adult coaches, either teachers or parents. Students and children may not participate.
